Pinochle
Trick-taking card game
Pinochle (English: /ˈpiːnʌkəl/), also called pinocle or penuchle, is a trick-taking, Ace-Ten card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. wikipedia.org
The objective of Pinochle is to be the first player or team to reach a predetermined score by collecting points through winning tricks and melding specific combinations of cards. Players strive to win tricks containing high-value cards and to accumulate melds such as marriages, pinochles, and various sets to score points and ultimately win the game.
Highest to lowest: Ace, 10, King, Queen, Jack, 9 (with all other cards holding no rank value)
Pinochle is thought to have two possible origins. One is that it is a cousin of Binokel, with both games evolving from the game of Bezique. A second alternative is that Pinochle actually developed from the Swiss and, later, South German game of Binocle or Binokel, which in turn is a descendant of Bezique.
